Diffusion
One way that language diffusion can take place is when someone moves from the cultural hearth of where a language is spoken and teaches it along with their culture to the people in the new place that they moved to.
Another way that language diffusion can take place is when native speakers of that language pass it down and teach it to their kids and their kids do the same with their kids.
One way that the diffusion of religion can take place is through relocation diffusion. This is where an individual moves from their cultural hearth to another place and teaches others in that new place about the culture and language of their origin.
Another way diffusion of religion can take place is through expansion. This is where a trend spreads from it's original place, outward but still stays strong in the hearth. This can be through several forms including contagious, hairacle and stimulus diffusion. For example Islam has spread throughout the world, yet stayed strong in the middle east, where it was founded.
The distribution of a language can be effected by its landscape because of the distribution of natural resources in any given part of the world.
Geographic maps can illustrate religious diffusion based on how the borders are shaped.
